To them that love God (Part 2)

To them that love God (Part 2)

” . . . to them that love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

To continue my thoughts from yesterday . . .

I want to emphasize the last part of Romans 8:28 because it usually gets left out when being quoted.

To say that “everything works together for good”, and have that apply to everyone, is not scripturally sound.  Paul is talking to believers – Christians – those who love God,  those who are the called . . .

In 1 Cor. 1:23,24, Paul explains who “the called” are:  “So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.  But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.”

So therein lies the hope for the Christian – that God WILL and DOES work out every miniscule detail of our lives for our good.  Hallelujah!  So let’s trust that He has a plan and a purpose for our pain and know that He is working “all things for good” behind the scenes.

Let me leave you with a quote from one of my favorite authors, C.S. Lewis:   “It is precisely because God does love us that he is more concerned with our holiness than our self-defined happiness. What an amazing God, who can use the brokenness of this world for our good and his glory. His holy love will be consummated in our lives when we see him face to face, and then we will realize that it was worth whatever pain we had to endure.”

It will be worth it.  Trust Him.

Trish
